List of all the shows I played in 2000:
Note: these are all in the form of the original announcements and haven't been updated since the time of the respective shows.

With JOB:
February 2nd (Wednesday) marks the end of an era, as this will be the last JOB show for a while. Mark is leaving for Boston a couple weeks after this show, which also features a set by the rather entertaining and mind-bending ensemble Mono Pause. The event is at the Tip Top Inn in SF (3001 Mission Street @ 26th). Come one, come all!!

With Mumble & Peg:
February 4th (Friday) we'll be heading on up to Sacramento to play at the Press Club (2030 "P" St., (916) 444-7914) with three other bands (Maybe Never, the Succulents, and Asterisk). We'll be on 3rd (i.e., show starts at 9:00pm; we'll go on around 11:15). How we even get all equipment from Oakland to there remains to be seen.

With Mumble & Peg:
February 11th (Friday) we're back at the Starry Plough in Berkeley (3101 Shattuck Ave. (510) 841-2082) with our Vaccination Records pals Rube Waddell and Grand National and the Big Red Shoelace.

With Casino Royale:
March 4th (Saturday) I'll be sitting in on keyboards for my first time with this James Bond/Burt Bacharach cover band. Featuring a lot of the same members as Herb and many others. This'll happen down in Santa Cruz at the Catalyst. If you live in SC you should know where that is. We're opening for Superbooty I believe. This should be interesting.

With Mumble & Peg:
March 10th (Friday) we've been asked to play at the Stork Club in Oakland by the band Sfu.ma.to. I know very little about this band, and even less about the third band that night called One Step Shift. Come check this out if you're in the neighborhood. Should be quite random.

With Mumble & Peg:
March 15th (Wednesday) we'll be gracing the tall stage at the Top Top Inn in SF (3001 Mission Street @ 26th) with the likes of Faun Fables and Megamoose. Come celebrate the ides of March with us! Besides, everybody likes Wednesday shows!

With Mumble & Peg:
March 16th (Thursday) we'll be returning to SF right away to play at the Hotel Utah (on Bryant @ 4th) with Mark Growden and his Electric Pinata. Much merriment and marvelous music.

With Species Being:
I'm going on tour!! Species Being is a band featuring pals from the improv scene (Frank Grau on drums, Eli Good on guitar, and Jai Young Kim on keyboards). They asked me along to fill in on bass for their upcoming northwest tour. Expect fun and adventure! The dates are:

  • Tuesday March 28 - Portland, OR - EJ's
  • Wednesday March 29 - Seattle, WA - The Rainbow
  • Thursday March 30th - Eugene, OR - Sam Bond's Garage
  • Friday March 31 - Chico, CA - The Blue Room
  • Saturday April 1st - Redway, CA - Mateel Community Center

This is actually a two-band tour, the second band being another conglomeration of brilliance spearheaded by keyboardist extraordinaire Graham Connah called Jettison Slinky. They'll be travelling in a different van, though.

With Species Being:
On Tuesday, April 11th, I'll be sitting in with this band as they play at the Paradise Lounge in SF. We'll be playing with Stickman on the main stage. Other acts on other stages.

With Mumble & Peg:
April 14th (Friday) come celebrate tax-day at the good ol' Starry Plough in Berkeley (Shattuck @ Woolsey). We'll be packing the place along with local pals Ramona the Pest and Bassline Dada.

With Species Being:
April 27th (Thursday) I'm playing bass once again with this improvisational quartet. You should check us out. Other bands this evening are Vacuum Tree Head and Pendulum.

With Species Being and the Moe!Kestra:
On Thursday, May 11th, I'll be playing with both Species Being and the latest conglomeration of Bay Area freakoid musicians a.k.a the Moe!Kestra, led by Moe himself. Also this evening will be Vacuum Tree Head. Amazing. Not to be missed. This show. Rock out. Oh yeah.. This is all happening at the Bottom of the Hill in SF (17th @ Connecticut).

With Midline Errors:
On Wednesday, June 7th, I'll be debuting this solo project at the Tip Top Inn in SF (3001 Mission Street @ 26th). These shows will be more or less random. Maybe I'll bring my piano.. or my bass.. or my guitar.. or my drums.. or all of the above. Actually, I'll probably keep this show simple since I need to get my bearings and nobody will be there anyway. I'm not sure who else is playing at this gig.

With Casino Royale:
On Saturday, June 10th, around 3:00pm, I'll be playing with this band at the North Beach Festival. I've never been to this festival, nor know much about being an Oakland resident and all, but I'm sure it will be a good time had by all.

With Casino Royale:
On Saturday, June 24th, I'll be playing bass with these guys for two shows! The first being in the big tent right before the Oakland A's game. Come party (between 10am-12n) and then watch our favorite team kick ass! Then we're hauling up to Petaluma to play a show there. Where? At the Mystic Theatre. What a day!

With Casino Royale:
On Friday, July 14th, we're play at the Great American Music Hall in SF. What the exact occasion is, or who we're playing with, is a bit of a mystery to me right now, but hey! Who cares? It'll be a big show!

With Species Being and Pummel & Beg:
A double whammy for me at the completely questionable venue called Edinburgh Castle (in SF) on Saturday, August 12th! Come down and see the second Pummel & Beg show, featuring the same lot as Mumble & Peg but a wholly different attitude. I'll also be sitting in with the latest amalgamation of improv rockers called Species Being. Also playing tonight is the weird-ass Darling Freakhead. Come to the Tenderloin and be amazed.

With Casino Royale:
Hey! I have a triptych of lunchtime gigs with the Bacharach bunch coming up, all of which are at Justin Herman Plaza in SF (where Market hits the water), each starting around 12:30pm. The exact days of this 3-day event are: Tuesday, August 29th, Wednesday, August 30th, and Thursday, August 31st. Get away from your damn computer you dot-com creep and get some sun 'n fun for a change.

With Mumble & Peg:
Omigod! We're like playing shows again just for the helluvit! Mark Friday, September 1st, down on your calendar, and make plans for catching a ride to the Starry Plough in Berkeley (Shattuck @ Woolsey). It'll be almost like a reunion show, being as how we haven't played in forever. Opening up will be the fresh, new, two-bass-and-drums brain-rock band, Schloss. We'll have guests sitting in helping out on all the overdubbed parts we did in the studio. I only have two arms, after all. So expect quick instrumental visitations by none other than Myles Boisen, Dan Rathbun, Mark Growden, and Tom Yoder! Can you believe it?

With Mumble & Peg:
As if! We're playing at the Amnesia in SF (formerly the good ol' Chameleon) on Wednesday, September 13th. This'll be a four band evening, where we're the second band. The other bands are The Masa Records Showcase, Electro Group, and Aerosol Species. Rock on! Amnesia is at 853 Valencia, between 19th & 20th, if you care.

With Casino Royale:
On Thursday, September 14th, I'll be sitting in once again with this cover band to end all cover bands. Where? At the Tongue & Groove in SF (2513 Van Ness @ Union). When? At around 10:00pm we'll start the first of three short sets. Come on down and dance and sweat!

With Casino Royale:
On Thursday, September 21st, I'll be back at the Tongue & Groove in SF (2513 Van Ness @ Union). Same deal as the previous week, dudes.

With Species Being:
Come on out, y'all, to our CD release party! Actually, I don't play on this CD, having just joined the band. Also playing this evening are the enthralling Mark Growden and his Electric Pinata and Deerhoof. When and where, you ask? It all happens on Thursday, September 28th, at the Bottom of the Hill in SF (17th near Connecticut). Be there!

With Mumble & Peg:
From what I hear, Mumble & Peg is playing at the Cafe Du Nord on Monday, October 2nd, opening up for Mark Growden's Electric Pinata, during one of their many regular Monday night spots. Exact details have yet to be hammered out, but just pencil it in and we'll get back to you.

With Orchestra Nostalgico:
Mark Wednesday, October 4th, in you pocket calendar! I'm starting my keyboard sub role with the great Orchestra Nostalgico (formerly the Club Foot Orchestra) playing a fun and exciting assortment of film score music by Nino Rota amongst other things. Man I have a music to learn by this show. Features many noteworthy members of the Bay Area jazz/experimental music scene. This'll be at Bruno's in SF (in the Mission). Please come on down!

With Casino Royale:
On Thursday, October 5th, once more I'll be swingin' at the Tongue & Groove in SF (2513 Van Ness @ Union). I think this is the last of these Tongue & Groove shows that I'll be sitting in on.

With Species Being:
We're going on tour! Here are all the dates below. Though you should try to attend every last one of these shows, keep in mind we're rotating the lineups during the course of this entire suite of national shows. In other words, I'll be playing at all the gigs starting with Salt Lake City, but none before then. Here's the poop:

  • Fri 10/06 Los Angeles, CA - Al's Bar
  • Sat 10/07 Los Angeles, CA - The Lab
  • Sun 10/08 Redlands, CA - University of Redlands
  • Tue 10/10 Salt Lake City, UT - Kilby Court w/ Red Bennies
  • Thu 10/12 Chicago, IL - Fireside Bowl

  • Wed 10/25 Albuquerque, NM - Sprockets Pub

With Mumble & Peg:
November 11th, 2000, is a grand day, indeed! Come to our grand debut at the majestic Ivy Room in North Berkeley (or is it in Albany?)!! Anyway, it's on some main corner of San Pablo and something north of University. Possibly further north than Gilman. Look it up, lazy boy! We're playing after our pals Aerosol Species who go on around 10:00. We'll go on around 11:30 and play an extra long set since that's what we're getting paid to do. Cuchee Coo!

With Orchestra Nostalgico:
Hold on, kids! It's the Orchestra Nostalgico Bay Area tour! Even more special is that we're playing strictly at Nordstrom's department stores. Come shop for ties, wallets, slacks, and undergarments while listening to the Italian-ish stylings of a whittled down version of this ensemble. I'll even be playing the Nordstrom's house pianos! How exciting! The dates/times are:

  • Pleasanton: Sunday, November 12th, from 9:00am-11:30am.
  • Walnut Creek: Tuesday, November 14th, from 7:00pm-9:30pm.

With Mumble & Peg:
So Mumble & Peg is playing again at the Cafe Du Nord (which is on Market near Church in SF). When? On Wednesday, November 22nd (the day before Thanksgiving). With? The Rock-a-teens. They're an indie label band. If you're stressed out because of failed turkey preparations, come relax with us.

With Midline Errors:
Hooray! Another Midline Errors show to help reduce the holiday blues. I'll be opening up for Mark Growden and his Electric Pinata with a short set of many short tunes. When? On Monday, November 27th, at the Cafe Du Nord in SF (I seem to be playing there a lot lately). It'll be a mind bender, I'm sure.

With Mumble & Peg:
We're penciled in for a gig at the good old Starry Plough in Berkeley (Shattuck @ Woolsey). This'll happen six days before Hannukah (in other words, on December 16th). Who else is playing? The fabulous Grnd Natl Brnds and a new thing called Gray Davis featuring Gino, Rick, and Ann. Not to be ignored!
